As a lawyer in private practise, she appeared at every level of court in a precedent-setting career, helping countless individuals navigate the legal system. As an author and columnist, she provided Canadians with access to accurate, understandable and empowering legal information throughout her 25-year stint as a columnist at Chatelaine and as the author of Women in Canadian Law (a history), Every Woman’s Guide to the Law, Every Canadian’s Guide to the Law and most recently, a memoir and history of the women’s movement Fairly Equal: Lawyering the Feminist Revolution. As an activist, she has advanced the cause of equality and social justice for Canadian women, including spearheading the reform of Ontario family law to provide for the equal sharing of family assets. She was the founding chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Feminist Legal Analysis Section (now known as the Women Lawyers Forum) and has spoken widely on legal, community, women’s and law reform issues. Linda Silver Dranoff has been acknowledged for her achievements by the women’s community, the legal community, and beyond, receiving the Law Society Medal, the Governor-General’s Persons Award, the Toronto Y.W.C.A. Woman of Distinction honour, multiple awards from the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, the Women’s Law Association of Ontario President’s Award, recognition from University College at the University of Toronto as an Alumni of Influence, and in 2025 the Women in Law Leadership Rosalie Silberman Abella Award for lifetime achievement. She was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 2012, and the Order of Ontario in 2019.</image:title>

She also co-produced Phyllis Ellis's feature film, Toxic Beauty – which garnered an International Emmy nomination and several CSA awards, along with Banff Rockie and DGC nominations. Cohen’s recent film, Unloved premiered at Hot Docs in 2022, won the 3 rd prize Audience Award, a DGC Award, and was been nominated for four CSA awards. She recently completed story editing and production consulting the feature documentary film, Exclusion: A Century of Silence, which uses a filmmaker's POV and family history to delve into the shocking history of Canada's anti-Chinese racist immigration policies.       <image:title>Team - Karen Shopsowitz - Karen Shopsowitz is a Peabody Award–winning producer, director, editor and cameraperson whose work has screened nationally and internationally. Her recent credits include Magic Shadows: Elwy Yost – A Life in Movies (Firestarter Productions/TVO), for which she received two Canadian Screen Award nominations for directing and writing. She co-produced and edited the short film Mudder’s Hands, which screened at festivals across Canada and the United States. Shopsowitz is producer, director and editor of The Other Side of the Hero, a documentary about first responders and PTSD (co-produced with Enrico Colantoni and Diana Warmé), which aired on CBC’s Documentary Channel and screened at festivals and events across North America. Her earlier work includes directing, editing and co-writing My Father’s Camera (NFB), winner of a prestigious Peabody Award; serving as series producer and director/co-editor of Canada’s War in Colour (YAP Films for CBC and SRC); and producing, directing and editing documentaries such as GrandParenting (TVO), One Summer at Camp Winston (CBC), and the internationally screened, award-winning My Grandparents Had a Hotel.</image:title>
